Getting There

By train: Conwy has its own station on the North Wales Coast Line, with regular services from Chester and Holyhead. The journey from Chester takes around 50 minutes. Llandudno Junction, a few minutes east, has more frequent connections and is the interchange for the Conwy Valley line south toward Betws-y-Coed and Blaenau Ffestiniog.

By car: The A55 expressway runs through a tunnel under the town, making it easy to pass Conwy entirely without realising it is there. Turn off at junction 17 or 18. Parking in the walled town is limited; the main car parks are just outside the walls near the castle.

By bus: National Express coaches on the London–Holyhead route stop at Llandudno Junction, from which local buses run into Conwy. Several Arriva Wales services connect the town with Llandudno, Bangor, and Rhyl.

From Ireland: Stena Line ferries run from Dublin to Holyhead, about 20 miles west of Conwy. It is a natural overnight stop if you are travelling between Ireland and England.
