Antigua Public Library

The Antigua Public Library is the national library of Antigua and Barbuda, housed in a striking colonial building on Market Street. Founded in 1882, it is one of the oldest public libraries in the Caribbean and still functions as a working lending library and research resource.

The building is worth a look — a two-storey colonial structure with a distinctive façade that has survived earthquakes and hurricanes over more than a century. The library holds a collection of local history materials, colonial-era documents, and Caribbean literature. Visitors are welcome to browse the reading rooms.
