Gasparito is widely regarded as one of the best places on the island to eat traditional Aruban food. It is set in a restored cunucu house — one of the small, thick-walled country cottages typical of the Aruban interior — in the Noord district north of Oranjestad. The kitchen specializes in dishes like keshi yena (Gouda cheese stuffed with spiced chicken or beef and baked), stoba (slow-cooked stew), and fresh fish prepared with local herbs and hot peppers.
The setting is genuinely atmospheric, with the house's original stone walls and wooden ceilings. It is a short taxi ride from the capital and well worth the trip for a proper Aruban meal rather than the resort-area international menus. Reservations are recommended in high season.
