Numismatic Museum

The Numismatic Museum of Aruba is a small, quirky collection housed in a private building near the waterfront. It claims to hold coins from over 350 countries and territories — a figure that is hard to verify but certainly reflects the sheer size of the collection on display. The exhibits include coins, banknotes, and stamps spanning centuries of monetary history from Aruba and around the world.

It is not a grand institution, but admission is free and the staff are enthusiastic. The museum has a personal, cabinet-of-curiosities feel that is a welcome contrast to the polished resort facilities elsewhere on the island. Worth twenty minutes of your time if you're in the neighbourhood of Fort Zoutman.
