Pelican Cays Land and Sea Park

Pelican Cays Land and Sea Park is a protected marine area covering a cluster of small cays and the surrounding reef south of Man-O-War Cay. The underwater terrain here — coral heads, sea fans, and sandy channels — is among the most intact in the northern Bahamas, partly because fishing and anchoring are restricted within the park boundaries.

The snorkelling is excellent without needing significant depth or experience. Rocky Dundas Cave, accessible by dinghy or kayak through a narrow entrance, opens up into a cavern decorated with stalactites that formed when sea levels were lower and the cave was dry. The ceiling is covered in formations that appear impossibly intricate for something submerged in the tropics. You need a boat to reach the park; it's not accessible by ferry.
