Lighthouse Beach is at the very southern tip of Eleuthera, where a small headland with the ruined Light Tower divides the calm Bight of Eleuthera from the open Atlantic. The sand is fine, pinkish, and almost always empty; the offshore reef gives easy snorkelling.
The drive in is the catch: about 11 km of unsealed sandy road from the village of Bannerman Town, best done in a 4x4. Bring everything you need — there is no shade, no water, no facilities. The reward is one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in the Bahamas, often shared with nothing but seabirds.
