Rock Sound

Rock Sound, in the south of Eleuthera, is the second-largest settlement on the island. It was a major port in the 1950s and '60s when pineapples and citrus were Eleuthera's main exports, and the still-grand homes of the time line the inland streets.

Today it is a quiet, friendly town: a couple of grocery stores, gas stations, a few bars and restaurants, and the bus terminus for the south end. The Ocean Hole — the town's headline natural feature — is a short walk from the centre. Rock Sound Airport, a couple of miles north, handles regional flights.
