The pink-sandstone Atlantis resort dominates Paradise Island — a vast complex of hotels, casinos, restaurants, and water parks built around an extravagant aquarium-themed centrepiece. Whether or not you stay there, the Dig (aquarium tunnels) and Aquaventure (water park) are open to day visitors for a stiff fee, and worth it if you have children or like big aquariums.
Pieces of the resort are tacky and the food is overpriced, but the marine exhibits are genuinely first-class — manta rays, hammerheads, a 14-million-litre lagoon, and viewing windows the size of cinema screens. The Royal Towers are visible from most of Nassau. Free to walk through the public arcade ("Marina Village") even if you are not paying for anything.
