The seat of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nassau, built in 1885–1887 in a yellow-painted Romanesque style. The interior is austere — barrel-vaulted, with stained glass and a marble high altar — and a welcome cool escape from the heat of Bay Street, two blocks away.
The cathedral sits opposite the National Art Gallery on West Hill Street, so it pairs naturally with that visit. Sunday Mass at 9 am is the time to come if you want to hear the Bahamian Catholic congregation singing.
