The Philip Goldson International Airport is about 16 km northwest of the city centre. Taxis from the airport to downtown are fixed-rate (ask the price before you get in). There are no public buses to the airport, though some guesthouses will organise shuttles.
International flights connect Belize City to Miami, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, and Charlotte among US gateways, plus connections to Mexico City and Panama. American, United, Delta, and Southwest all serve it. The airport is small and immigration is quick.
The bus terminal on West Collet Canal is the hub for domestic bus travel — services run to San Ignacio, Belmopan, Orange Walk, Corozal, and Dangriga. Buses are local-style chicken buses rather than tourist coaches. They're cheap and they go everywhere; they're also slow and sometimes very full.
Water taxis depart from the Marine Terminal on North Front Street to Ambergris Caye (approximately 75 minutes, several departures daily) and to Caye Caulker (about 45 minutes). This is the most popular way to reach the cayes.
