Cup Match (late July or early August) is the defining event of the Bermudian calendar. A two-day cricket match between the St. George's Cricket Club and the Somerset Cricket Club, it also marks Emancipation Day and Mary Prince Day — the public holidays honouring the abolition of slavery and Bermudian abolitionist Mary Prince. The match itself is almost secondary to the atmosphere: entire extended families take over the grounds, food stalls appear across the island, and Crown and Anchor gambling tables operate — the only time gambling is legal in Bermuda. If you are visiting in summer, plan your trip around Cup Match or plan to book very early.

Bermuda Day (May 24) celebrates the start of summer. The holiday includes a half-marathon road race run partly in traditional Bermudian costume, and a parade through Hamilton. It is a public holiday and the traditional first day of the year for swimming in the ocean.

Bermuda Carnival (June) is a newer tradition, launched in 2015 around National Heroes Day. A multi-day event that culminates in a "Revel de Road" parade, it brings together Caribbean-style costume, soca music, and revellers from across the island and the diaspora.

Bermuda International Film Festival (March) is a small but well-regarded festival that draws international independent films and occasional notable attendees.

Harbour Nights (summer Wednesdays) are informal street market evenings in Hamilton's Front Street area — vendors, food, music, and a generally festive atmosphere. A pleasant way to spend a Wednesday evening in town.
