Eating Out

Bermudian cuisine draws on British colonial cooking, Portuguese immigration (fish chowder, kale soup), and fresh local seafood: wahoo, rockfish, spiny lobster, and Bermuda chub. Fish chowder is the dish to try; the sherry pepper sauce served with it is a Bermudian condiment. Rum swizzle is the island's signature cocktail.

Hamilton has the island's widest restaurant range. The Lobster Pot on Bermudiana Road is the place for traditional Bermudian seafood. Hog Penny Pub on Burnaby Street is the oldest English pub on the island — reliable, unpretentious, with live music some evenings. Fresco's Restaurant and Wine Bar on Chancery Lane has the island's best wine list and a sophisticated menu. For something cheaper, the city has sandwich shops and casual spots near the bus terminal.
