Tooloulou's

A cheerful Cajun and Creole restaurant that has been a local institution for years. The blackened catfish, jambalaya, and gumbo are all properly made — not the sanitised versions that pass for Cajun food outside Louisiana. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable by Banff standards, and the atmosphere is casual and lively. Good for groups. Brings in an unlikely clientele of mountain guides, ski patrollers, and bewildered tourists who were expecting poutine.

Address: 204 Caribou Street, Banff.
