Sproat Lake Provincial Park

Clear lake park with summer swimming, forested shores, and ancient petroglyphs.

Sproat Lake is the Port Alberni Valley's easy summer escape: clear water, warm swimming by island standards, and forested shoreline close enough to town for a lazy afternoon. The provincial park is small but well placed, with picnic areas and lake access just off Highway 4.

Look for the K'ak'awin petroglyphs, often called the Sproat Lake petroglyphs, carved into rock near the water. They are a quiet reminder that this valley's story is much older than its mills.
