Getting There

Sidney is about 25 kilometres north of Victoria on the Saanich Peninsula, easily reached by car or bus along the Patricia Bay Highway (Highway 17).

By air: Victoria International Airport is immediately adjacent to Sidney — it is one of the few towns in Canada where you can walk from the terminal to a town centre (about 20 minutes on foot or a short taxi ride).

By ferry: BC Ferries' Swartz Bay terminal, just north of Sidney, connects to Tsawwassen on the mainland (about 90 minutes, multiple daily sailings). The same terminal also serves the Gulf Islands — Salt Spring, Galiano, Mayne, Saturna, and the Penders. A seasonal foot-passenger ferry operated by Washington State Ferries (and connecting services) links Sidney to Anacortes, Washington, for travellers heading to the San Juan Islands or onwards into the United States.

By bus: BC Transit route 70 runs between Victoria's downtown and Sidney (and the Swartz Bay ferry terminal), making the journey without a car straightforward if not particularly fast.
