By air: Saint John Airport (YSJ) has scheduled flights from Toronto (Air Canada) and Montreal, with connections to Halifax. The airport is about 15 km east of the city centre; taxis are the practical option as there is no useful public transit link.
By car: Saint John sits on the Trans-Canada Highway (Route 1). From Moncton it is about 155 km west (around 1.5 hours). From Fredericton it is around 105 km southeast (about an hour). The drive from Halifax takes roughly 3 hours via the Trans-Canada and the Nova Scotia border crossing.
By bus: Maritime Bus serves Saint John with connections to Moncton, Fredericton, and Halifax. The terminal is centrally located near the uptown core.
By ferry: Bay Ferries operates a seasonal service between Saint John and Digby, Nova Scotia, crossing the Bay of Fundy in about 2.5 hours. This is one of the most dramatic ferry crossings on the east coast — the Fundy is enormous and the maritime scenery is remarkable. It runs spring through autumn and is a useful option for those driving a loop of the Maritimes.
