Stubborn Goat Gastropub

Address 1579 Dresden Row

The Stubborn Goat Gastropub is one of Halifax's favourite craft beer destinations, with a rotating selection of Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canadian microbrews on tap alongside an above-average pub food menu. The building is a converted historic space in the South End near the Public Gardens, with exposed brick and a comfortable split-level layout. It fills up in the evenings with a mix of students, young professionals, and visiting beer tourists.

The food goes beyond standard pub fare: wood-fired flatbreads, good burgers, and Nova Scotia mussels in several preparations. The beer list emphasises local producers — Propeller, Good Robot, Boxing Rock, and Nine Locks frequently appear alongside rotating guests. The Sunday brunch is a neighbourhood institution, particularly popular with the Dalhousie university crowd. Prices are reasonable for the quality.
