The harbour east of the beach is Cobourg's other waterfront face. Two breakwaters enclose a sheltered basin holding the town marina, the yacht club, and a small fleet of charter and pleasure boats. A paved promenade circles the basin and continues out along the east breakwater — a fifteen-minute walk one way, with a long view of the town from the lake side and pelicans, gulls, and the occasional cormorant on the rocks.
The Cobourg Lighthouse — a modest white tower at the end of the west pier — dates from the 1850s in its earliest form and has been rebuilt twice since. It is photogenic at sunset. The harbour area also hosts the Friday-night live music and the summer waterfront festival weekends; check the town listings for what is on during a visit.
