The Haliburton Highlands Museum sits at the entrance to Glebe Park and tells the story of the area from the Anishinaabe presence and 19th-century settler logging to the rise of the cottage industry in the 20th century. The site includes the main exhibit gallery and a cluster of restored buildings — a log house, a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop — moved here from elsewhere in the region.
The exhibits are modest and clearly volunteer-tended, but they fill in the background of what you are seeing in the surrounding country. Open daily in summer, reduced hours the rest of the year. The grounds are free to walk.
