Kiwekì Point

A reopened Ottawa River lookout above the National Gallery, with big Parliament Hill views and paths into Major's Hill Park.

Kiwekì Point is a small but rewarding lookout on the bluff between the National Gallery of Canada and the Ottawa River. The point has long been one of the best places in central Ottawa for a clean view toward Parliament Hill, the Alexandra Bridge, the river islands, and the museum roofs of Gatineau across the water.

The site was rebuilt with new paths, seating, lighting, and Indigenous interpretation, and the Algonquin name gives it a stronger sense of place than the older Nepean Point label. It is not a long stop, but it is an easy one to fold into a walk from the ByWard Market to Major's Hill Park or the Royal Canadian Mint.
