Stratford is small and walkable. The four festival theatres are spread along the river but all within twenty minutes' walk of one another, and the festival runs a free intermission shuttle between the venues during the season.
Bicycles are useful and easy to rent in summer; the riverside paths are flat. You do not need a car within the town, but having one widens the day-trip options into the Mennonite country to the north.
