Getting There

Wawa sits on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 17), 216 km north of Sault Ste. Marie and roughly 230 km south of White River. Most travellers arrive by car as part of a long drive around Lake Superior — the route is one of Canada's classic road trips.

There is a small airport (CYXZ) just south of town with no scheduled commercial service; it serves charter flights and the regional float-plane operators that head into the bush camps. The nearest commercial airport is Sault Ste. Marie (YAM), about two and a half hours south.

There is no passenger rail. Greyhound used to run a bus along the Trans-Canada but service ended in 2018; replacement service from Ontario Northland and connecting carriers is intermittent — check before you plan to rely on it.
