Parc Marie-Victorin

Parc Marie-Victorin runs along the St. Lawrence riverfront and offers sweeping views of the Montréal skyline across the water — one of the best angles from which to appreciate the city, particularly at dusk when the light hits the skyscrapers and the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. The park is popular with cyclists, joggers, and anyone wanting to watch the river traffic.

The waterfront promenade is the park's main feature: a well-maintained path that runs for several kilometres with benches, picnic areas, and unobstructed river views throughout. In summer, the park hosts outdoor events and is a favourite spot for Longueuil residents on warm evenings. In winter, when the river freezes, the landscape becomes something quite different and dramatic.

A story
The park is named for Brother Marie-Victorin, a Québécois botanist and Christian Brothers teacher who became one of Canada's most important naturalists. His 1935 work "Flore laurentienne" was the definitive botanical survey of the St. Lawrence Valley and remains a foundational text in Canadian botany.
