Longueuil

South-shore Montréal city with Vieux-Longueuil restaurants, skyline views, and metro access to downtown.

Longueuil sits on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, directly across from Montréal. Connected to the island by the Jacques-Cartier Bridge and a metro line, it functions as both a bedroom community and a destination in its own right.

The historic district of Vieux-Longueuil along Rue Saint-Charles has a strip of restaurants and cafes worth exploring, and the waterfront Parc Marie-Victorin offers sweeping views of the Montréal skyline. Parc Michel-Chartrand to the north is one of the largest urban forest parks in the region. For most visitors, Longueuil serves as a quieter, more affordable base for exploring the Montréal area — the metro gets you downtown in about fifteen minutes.
