Le Clocher Penché

Neighbourhood bistro in Saint-Roch with excellent Québécois seasonal cooking

Address 203 rue Saint-Joseph Est, Québec City, QC G1K 3B1

One of the best restaurants in Québec City that most tourists never reach — Le Clocher Penché is in the Saint-Roch neighbourhood, well outside the Old City tourist orbit, and is better for it. The bistro occupies a former church (the name refers to the church's bent steeple) and serves seasonal Québécois cooking of genuine quality: local duck, lamb from the Eastern Townships, farm cheeses, and housemade charcuterie.

The Sunday brunch is a local institution — generous, excellent, and very good value. Reservations are essential for dinner on weekends; the restaurant fills early. The neighbourhood setting means the clientele is primarily local, and the atmosphere is relaxed rather than performative. The wine list prioritises small producers.
