Whitehorse is served by Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport (YXY), about 5 kilometres southwest of downtown. Air Canada and WestJet fly direct to Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton; charter flights connect seasonally to other points. Taxis and rental cars are available at the airport.
The Alaska Highway connects Whitehorse to British Columbia to the south and to Alaska and the Yukon interior to the west and north. It's a long drive — Whitehorse is about 1,470 kilometres from Vancouver — but the highway is paved and well-maintained. Greyhound Canada no longer serves Whitehorse; check with local operators for seasonal bus services. The Alaska Marine Highway System connects Skagway, Alaska (a day's drive from Whitehorse) to the ferry network.
