Seven Mile Beach

Grand Cayman's main resort beach, running north from George Town along the western coast of the island. Five miles or so of fine white sand and clear shallow water, lined with mid- and high-end resorts, condominium towers, and a steady stream of beach bars. Unlike many Caribbean resort strips, the entire beach is public to the high-water mark — you can walk its full length and dip into any of the hotel bars for a drink.

Beach buses leave George Town frequently along West Bay Road; a taxi from the cruise pier is around US$15. The best swimming is around Public Beach and Cemetery Beach; the prettiest sunset views are from the northern end near Tiki Beach and Macabuca.

A story
Seven Mile Beach is actually about 5.5 miles long — Caymanians have been quietly amused by the misnomer for decades. The sand is a pure white aragonite that almost never gets too hot to walk on; it is the most consistently rated #1 beach in the Caribbean by major tourism rankings.
