Cahuita punches well above its size for things to do. The national park is the obvious draw, but there is more: surfing a black sand beach, night walks to watch leatherback turtles haul themselves ashore, and a day trip down the coast to the livelier scene at Puerto Viejo. Nature is the constant thread — this is one of the more biodiverse stretches of Caribbean coastline in Central America, and you can experience most of it without a guide or much money.
