When to Go

Ciudad Quesada sits on the transitional zone between the dry Pacific and wet Caribbean slopes of Costa Rica, which gives it a longer wet season than the Pacific coast. December through April is generally drier and more pleasant for walking and outdoor activities. The wet season (May–November) brings heavy afternoon rains but keeps the forest spectacularly green and the hot springs less crowded.

The Saturday market and livestock auction run year-round regardless of weather, and the Mercado Municipal is an all-weather attraction in any case.
