Liberia is an airport and a junction rather than a destination, and most of what is sold here happens somewhere else: Rincón de la Vieja an hour north, the Río Celeste, Palo Verde on the Tempisque, and the beaches west.
Guanacaste distances are longer than they look, so an agency with a van is worth more here than in most of the country.
