Museo de Sabanero is a small but useful stop for understanding Liberia and Guanacaste beyond the airport and beach-transfer image. Its focus is the sabanero, the horseman and cattle-worker culture that shaped the dry plains of northwestern Costa Rica.
The museum is modest, so do not expect a polished national institution. Its value is local: saddles, tools, photographs, and ranching context help explain why Liberia feels culturally different from the rainier, coffee-growing parts of the country.
