Parismina Turtle Beach

Lonely Caribbean nesting beach patrolled in season for leatherback and other sea turtles.

The beach is Parismina's most powerful place. At night in season, local guides and conservation volunteers patrol the dark sand looking for nesting turtles and fresh tracks, with visitors sometimes able to join under strict rules.

Go with a guide, keep lights off unless told otherwise, and do not treat the walk like a normal beach stroll. Seeing a turtle nest on a quiet Caribbean shore is extraordinary, but the animal gets priority over the traveler every time.

A story
The turtle walks here are conservation patrols first and visitor experiences second. That matters: several nesting species are under heavy pressure, and the local patrol culture grew from the need to keep poachers away from nests.
