Parismina, or Barra del Parismina, is a small roadless village on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast between Tortuguero and Limón. It sits where the Parismina and Reventazón river system meets the sea, with canals behind it and a long turtle beach in front.
The place is for travelers who like the edges of a map. There are no cars, arrival is by boat or charter plane, and the best things to do are simple: ride the canals, walk the beach with turtle patrols in season, fish for tarpon and snook, or start the cross-country Camino de Costa Rica from the Caribbean.
Parismina is not a polished resort and that is its strength. If Tortuguero feels too busy or too packaged, this village gives you a quieter version of the same Caribbean-lowland world, with more local life and less infrastructure.
