Everything here is Chirripó. The climb is fourteen kilometres and about two thousand metres of ascent to the Crestones refuge, then a pre-dawn push to the 3,820-metre summit; park entry and a refuge bed are booked through SINAC and sell out months ahead.
What is hired in the village is what SINAC does not provide: guides, and porters who carry loads on the lower half of the route. There is also a guides' office in the village for arranging both.
