Regla's Afro-Cuban heritage makes it one of the best places in Havana to hear genuinely traditional rumba and Yoruba-derived religious music. The neighbourhood's casa de cultura holds regular events where Abakuá and Santería musical traditions are performed — not as tourist shows but as living cultural practice for the community.
Weekend evenings sometimes bring spontaneous drumming circles in the streets around the church. The combination of the religious calendar (saints' days in the Catholic-Santería system are frequent) and the neighbourhood's strong musical traditions means that music is a more constant presence here than in most of Havana.
