Cap Cana Marina

The Dominican Republic's largest marina, with deep-sea fishing and sport boats

Cap Cana is a gated resort community at the southern end of the Punta Cana strip, built around a marina that handles some of the biggest sport-fishing boats in the Caribbean. Blue marlin, wahoo, and mahi-mahi are all caught in waters a short distance offshore, and the marina is the departure point for most of the serious deep-sea fishing charters in the area.

Juanillo Beach, just inside the Cap Cana gates, is one of the best stretches of sand on the coast — calmer and less crowded than Bávaro. The Jack Nicklaus-designed Punta Espada golf course runs along the clifftop with several holes directly above the sea, ranked among the best courses in the Caribbean. Non-golfers can access the marina area to walk the waterfront and eat at the restaurants there.

A story
Cap Cana sits on what were once mangrove wetlands that took decades to transform into the yacht-lined marina and golf courses it is today. The protected cove it occupies is one of the very few natural harbours on the eastern coast of Hispaniola.
