Punta Cana's beaches stretch for about 50 km along the eastern coast, with fine white sand and calm water protected by an offshore reef. The main beach area runs from Bavaro in the north to Cap Cana in the south.
Punta Cana Beach
The Punta Cana Beach is a very long beach that covers a total distance of about 30 miles. It is the most popular beach in Punta Cana, because it has very clean and white sand and a wide range of amenities. It is lined with large resort hotels and is the centre of tourist activity in Punta Cana.
The beach strip is divided into sections from north to south: Uvero Alto, Macao, El Cortecito, Arena Gorda, Cabeza de Toro, and Bávaro. Bávaro Beach is the most celebrated section — a great place for swimming and snorkelling, protected by the offshore coral reef that forms a natural turquoise pool close to shore.
Dominicus Beach
This place is a preferred destination for beachgoers mainly because of its cleanliness. It has earned a blue flag status, and it is a very well-maintained beach. The beach has very clear waters and a large coral reef, which makes it an ideal place for scuba-diving.
Juanillo Beach
The Juanillo Beach is also known as the Cap Cana, and it is located at the southeastern end of the Dominican Republic. It is a long and spacious beach that has brilliant white sand. There are lots of huts, tents and umbrellas along the beach to provide shade. This beach faces the southeast direction, and it offers spectacular views of sunrise.
