Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is the busiest airport in the Dominican Republic and one of the top ten busiest in the Caribbean. It receives direct flights from dozens of cities across North America and Europe, including New York, Miami, Toronto, Madrid, London, Paris, and Amsterdam. Most visitors arrive on charter or scheduled flights and are transferred directly to their resort.
From the United States, the flight time is around 3.5 to 4.5 hours depending on departure city. From Europe it is 9 to 10 hours, with most flights overnight. The airport has multiple terminals; confirm which one your airline uses before arriving.
There is no practical rail or bus connection from the airport to the hotels — the standard arrival method is a pre-arranged transfer or taxi. Licensed taxis wait outside arrivals and charge standard fixed rates; agree on the price before getting in. Most resorts include airport transfer in their packages.
