Cap Cana Marina

The Dominican Republic's largest marina, with deep-sea fishing and sport boats

Cap Cana is a gated resort community at the southern end of the Punta Cana strip, built around a marina that handles some of the biggest sport-fishing boats in the Caribbean. Blue marlin, wahoo, and mahi-mahi are all caught in waters a short distance offshore, and the marina is the departure point for most of the serious deep-sea fishing charters in the area.

Juanillo Beach, just inside the Cap Cana gates, is one of the best stretches of sand on the coast — calmer and less crowded than Bávaro. The Jack Nicklaus-designed Punta Espada golf course runs along the clifftop with several holes directly above the sea, ranked among the best courses in the Caribbean. Non-golfers can access the marina area to walk the waterfront and eat at the restaurants there.

Cap Cana sits on what were once mangrove wetlands that took decades to transform into the yacht-lined marina and golf courses it is today. The protected cove it occupies is one of the very few natural harbours on the eastern coast of Hispaniola.
