Gurabo

Gurabo is the upscale residential and nightlife district in the northeast of Santiago, stretching along the ridges east of the centre. The area — specifically the Cerros de Gurabo and Bella Terra zones — is where most of the city's better restaurants and bars are concentrated, along with supermarkets and shopping centres that serve the middle-class neighbourhoods around them.

For visitors, Gurabo is mainly a destination for an evening out. The main restaurant strip along the Avenida Juan Pablo Duarte and the side streets of Bella Terra has the widest choice of food in the city. The view from the heights back toward the Monumento is excellent in the late afternoon.
