The Gran Arena del Cibao Dr. Óscar Gobaira is a 10,000-seat indoor arena on the north side of the city, near the Estadio Cibao. Opened in 2009, it is the country's largest enclosed venue and hosts the biggest concerts, conventions, and basketball games that come through the Cibao region.
For visitors it is mostly a stop on the way to or from the baseball stadium, but the schedule is worth checking — international acts touring the Caribbean often skip Santo Domingo for the bigger arena here. The Águilas franchise also fields a basketball team that plays in the arena during the LNB season (April to September).
