Tasiilaq is primarily a base for outdoor adventures: hiking, ski touring, dog sledding, and sea kayaking in summer. The surrounding mountains and fjords are the attraction, with the town's modest museum and colorful wooden houses providing a human anchor. Most visitors come to experience East Greenland's isolation, which is real and requires planning.
