Fort Frederick

Hilltop Grenadian fort with wide views over St. George's, the harbour, and the island interior.

Fort Frederick stands above St. George's, trading the harbour-front immediacy of Fort George for a broader view. From here the capital, the Carenage, the south coast, and Grenada's green interior line up in a way that makes the island's geography suddenly clear.

The fort itself is simple, but the setting does most of the work. It is a strong short excursion from the centre, especially if you want photographs and context before returning to the steep streets around the harbour.
