Grenada sits south of the main hurricane track, which makes it less exposed than many of its neighbours — but not immune. The hurricane season runs June to November, and heavy rain can make the steep lanes of St. George's slippery and the sea choppy. December to May is the dry season and the most comfortable time to visit: lower humidity, reliable sun, and calmer seas for diving.
August brings the Grenada Carnival, a two-day explosion of costumes, calypso, and soca music that centres on the Queen's Park area above town. It is one of the more exuberant carnivals in the southern Caribbean and worth timing a visit around if you are anywhere near the region. The streets around Market Square and the Carenage get lively in the evenings leading up to the main event.
Water temperature is warm year-round — between 26°C and 29°C — making diving and snorkelling good at any time. The wreck of the MV Bianca C. is accessible all year, conditions permitting.
