The coast north and west of Cap-Haitien has some of Haiti's best beaches. Cormier Plage, a short drive north of town, is a sheltered cove with calm water, a dive operation, and a beachside restaurant serving fresh lobster. Further west, Labadie Beach — about 15 kilometres from town — has a landscaped waterpark, restaurants, and water-sports rentals, though much of the bay is leased to a cruise line. Rival Beach, closer to town, is simpler but has equipment rental for water sports.
