Calle 21 de Agosto — universally called "Veinte-uno" — is the main street of Siguatepeque, and it tells you more about the town than any postcard would. Running through the centre past comedores, shoe shops, hardware stores, pharmacies and mobile phone stalls, it is a working Honduran high street in the best sense: purposeful, a little noisy, and entirely genuine.
The street descends towards the market district, where things get busier and more chaotic. It is not a pedestrian zone or a tourist strip — just the place where Siguatepeque does its business — which is exactly what makes it worth a slow walk from end to end.
