Things to Do

Siguatepeque's pleasures are mostly low-key and unhurried. The Parque Central is the natural gathering point — a pleasant square shaded by trees, with the Iglesia San Pablo occupying one side. Sit on a bench and watch the town go about its business.

Calle 21 de Agosto — known to everyone as "Veinte-uno" — is the main commercial street, lined with comedores, shoe shops and hardware stores. It's a working Honduran high street rather than a tourist attraction, but that's exactly why it's worth an hour of your time. The Sunday market draws farmers from the surrounding mountain villages with fresh produce, and it starts early.

The town sits at around 1,100 metres, which makes the climate noticeably cooler than the lowlands — the surrounding pine forests are a real draw. For a longer excursion, the Parque Nacional Montaña de Comayagua begins just outside town and offers serious hiking through cloud forest.
