The Sunday market is the best reason to time your visit to Siguatepeque for the weekend. Farmers come down from the surrounding mountain villages with fresh fruit, vegetables, beans, maize and meat — the produce of Comayagua's department, which is one of Honduras's most fertile agricultural zones.
It starts early (by 6am the stalls are well underway) and winds down by late morning. Go before 9am if you want to see it at full pace. The market occupies the lower part of town near the main street; follow the crowd and the noise. It is a practical market, not a tourist market — prices are low and bargaining is common.
