Falmouth is on the A1 coastal road between Montego Bay (about 40 km west) and Ocho Rios (about 40 km east). By road, it is roughly 45 minutes from Montego Bay's Sangster International Airport (MBJ), the most convenient arrival point for most visitors. Taxis and shared minibuses (route taxis) run along the coast road; negotiate the fare before departure.
On cruise ship days, shuttle buses run directly from the Falmouth cruise pier (which opened in 2011 and is one of the largest in the Caribbean) to the town centre. On non-cruise days, Falmouth is quiet and easily walkable — the town centre is compact and most of the heritage buildings are within a few hundred metres of Water Square.
