By Air
Jamaica has two main international airports. Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay (MBJ) is the busiest and handles the bulk of charter and package holiday traffic. It's well-connected to North American cities including New York, Miami, Toronto, and Atlanta, with direct flights taking under 2 hours from Miami and about 4 hours from New York. Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston (KIN) is the better choice if you're heading to the capital or east coast. A smaller third airport, Ian Fleming International (OCJ) near Ocho Rios, handles some regional and charter traffic.
Airlines serving Jamaica include American Airlines, JetBlue, Southwest, Delta, Caribbean Airlines, and Air Canada. From the UK, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic fly direct from London Heathrow; flight time is around 10 hours.
Entry Requirements
Most nationalities, including citizens of the US, UK, Canada, and EU countries, do not need a visa for tourist stays. All visitors must complete the Jamaica Immigration/Customs C5 form before arrival — it's free and available through the Government of Jamaica's PICA website. You'll need a valid passport and an onward or return ticket.
From the Airport
Taxis from Sangster Airport to central Montego Bay are short and inexpensive. Licensed JUTA taxis wait outside the arrivals hall; agree on the fare before you get in. For the north coast resorts, shared shuttle transfers can be booked in advance and work out considerably cheaper than private taxis.
